Coffee sleeves get a fun make-over.

For the past couple of months, I have been collecting coffee sleeves that come with my Starbucks drink. I have accumulated a few and can tell you that I drink way too much coffee. I am not proud of myself, but I also don't get my hair or nails done.  I guess one could say this is my splurge. On the other hand, others might say that I need to go ahead and splurge on getting my hair done. 😂😂 Regardless, it's all good. I decided to do a little horror series, but so far I only have these two. Can I even call this a series with just two? lol I will add to this, but I will have to think about what I would like to make. Chucky maybe?  The top one is inspired by Pennywise.  Could it possibly be Pennywise's long lost sibling? I mean maybe. It could be. 😆 The bottom one is inspired by Silence of the Lambs.  Could this be Clarice if her and Hannibal Lecters roles were reversed? I hope you enjoyed and let me know if you'd like me to add on to this series.  Stay safe and stay cre

2022 Graduate

Hey y'all, I'm not sure where the time has gone, but my beautiful daughter has graduated high school. She is my first born, and a true gift and brings such joy to our family.  I feel honored to be able to watch her phase into this next chapter of her life, but I won't lie when I say this has been a bit hard on my heart.   Here's to you sweet girl . . . Cheers - You've got this!! To all those who graduated in 2022 . . .  Congratulations!  I made this sign using the laser.  File credit goes to  BPGCustomDesigns  over at Etsy.   Materials used: Wood: Baltic Birch; Gold Leaf Paper; Acrylic Paint. I did seal this piece.  Thank you for stopping on in and I hope to connect with you again this week . . .  So be on the look out.  👀 -Maddie Are you thinking about  getting  a Glowforge? Lasering on Watercolor Paper

Using my Glowforge Laser, I was able to laser this design onto watercolor paper. I used Canson Watercolor Paper that I happen to have on hand. I'm terrible at watercoloring, but for some reason I am obsessed with it and determined to get better at it. 😆  Anyways, below you get to see just how bad I suck at it and how I tried to fix it. Enjoy. Here I lasered the svg file image onto some watercolor paper.  Here is my crappy attempt at watercoloring. 😂 It's so splotchy.  I switched to colored pencils (PrismaColor colored pencils Botanical Garden Set) for the lettering and llama, because I just couldn't any longer with the splotchiness. 😅  If you look to the side of the picture, you will see that I used some of the space for swatching. I ended up liking it and thought, maybe if I just did those designs all over that it would mask my horrible watercoloring skills.  It did!! Or I think so, at least to my satisfactory. 😁 I actually had so much fun that I may just print some ot

Laser Made - Easter Bunny Egg Holder Using Cardboard

HA PP Y E AS TE R!! Wishing you and yours a wonderful Easter! Here are some fun Easter Bunny egg holders made from recycled cardboard and on the laser. I played around with different mediums, but mostly ended up using watercolors. I love they way they came out. I should have taken a photo of their little tails . . . they're adorable.  I could have painted the bunnies, but I kept them the color of whatever box I was using. Saved me a lot of time.  There are 11 bunnies in all. I'm not sure why I did 11, but it works. - 😂   Some of the bunnies have the sweetest bows.  I used some super glue to put them together.  This was so much fun! I could get lost for hours listening to some of my favorite YouTubers and crafting/painting.  I hope you have a beautiful Easter and stay well! Until next time . . .   -Maddie

St. Patrick's themed tree using/recycling cardboard boxes . . .

Hey guys! A few weeks back I made some St. Patrick's Day items to hang on that Christmas tree I leave up all year around. 😀  Here's what I did . . .  Cardboard boxes were broken down and cut down to size. Here are some of the items I cut on the laser. Some for this project, some for others that I'm currently working on. I added a second coat on some of the shamrocks and then placed them on and near the Christmas tree. I messed up by cutting the shamrock instead of scoring it on the shiplap round. It's okay though because I placed some duck tape to the back to help keep everything together - it worked. 😊 I love the way it turned out. It looks weathered and it doesn't look like cardboard. I'm telling you, working with this stuff is great!  I ended up using this piece as the tree topper. It was the only four leaf clover on the tree - our lucky charm.  I sorted through some Christmas ornaments and pulled a few green ones to add to my "Year 'Round Tree&quo

Going Gold . . .

These little butterflies got a make over. My mom had mailed us decorated gifts for Christmas. These butterflies were on some of the gifts. My daughters and I thought it would be nice if we could hang on to these because they were so cute.  One of them had lost an antenna and was needing a new one. Going through my stash I found some 26 gauge gold jewelry wire.  I used a needle to poke at the antenna and slowly work it out without causing damage. Much easier to do than expected. I cut a piece of wire down to size using an old antenna for reference; used Goop to glue down the antennas and magnets to the butterflies; let them sit out to cure for a day or two and that was it.  The only problem with all this was that my girls and I thought the gold complimented the colors so beautifully that we ended up giving them all new antennas! 😂😂 Here they are . . . . This was such a simple and fun way to repurpose these butterflies. My parents do not live close to us, so we will be think of them ev

Cardboard boxes repurposed using my laser

If you saw my last blog, you saw the banner and Valentine art I made with cardboard material. I used Amazon & Dremel boxes. If they are good in structure, its worth recycling to me. It is so light weight, I can probably use a glue gun to apply a paperclip on the back and hang it. Yup, that light weight and simple to work with. Whenever packages arrive my family is great about checking them out and placing those said boxes outside my studio door.  hmmm, maybe the kids just don't want to break them down. 😂 Who knows, but, I then go through them and keep the ones I think I can work with. I currently have some waiting for me outside my studio. You know my husbands loving that, especially since I told him I'd have them cut up and out of there in a day or two ....  it's been over a week. 😂😂 Anyways back to this project I would like to give a file credit to: Welcome Home Custom. I'm not sure if this particular svg file is in her store right now but I do love her work. I

Recycling cardboard boxes & my laser . . .

I'm getting Valentine ready. Instead of wood, acrylic or leather, I will be using my laser to cut left over cardboards from Christmas. Amazon, Dremel & white shirt boxes were used for these particular projects. You know what's great about crafting with cardboard boxes? It's so light in weight. That makes it great for hanging or placing in or on items without weighing it down. If it falls you don't have to worry about it breaking. Don't ask how I know. 😂 I opened up the boxes at the seams and then cut it down to a size that would fit in the bed of my laser. I used my heavy duty scissors to cut the cardboard. It's so easy with these scissors. They were a wonderful stocking stuffer from my husband, as was the Dremel. 😍 This is the backing to the lace hearts that were freshly cut on the laser.   For the top layer I used left over shirt boxes from Christmas. I liked using this because the boxes are white, so it made things go faster since I didn't have to p
